Pregnant? Need Help?

Walking with Moms In Need - Volunteers

Why We're Here

Pregnant and parenting moms-in-need are in our parishes and our neighborhoods. As Pope Francis reminds us, our parishes need to be “Islands of mercy in the midst of the sea of indifference.” Using these resources, everyone in our parish community can help a pregnant or parenting woman get the support she needs.  We hope to move closer to the day when every mother in need knows where to turn for help.

Who We Are

Walking with Moms in Need is a joint ministry of St Julie and St Peter parishes, located in North Ridgeville. Volunteers from these parishes have joined together to aid pregnant and parenting women, without regard to race, color, national origin, age, marital status, or religious affiliations. Keep up with us on our Facebook page: Walking with Moms in Need - North Ridgeville.

What We Do / Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers walk with moms throughout the motherhood journey offering them authentic Christian friendship and ongoing support. See our latest news update here.

We start by sending two trained volunteers to meet with the mom, starting the journey of companionship. The goal is to assess needs and determine what resources can be used to help lighten the burden this woman is carrying. We hope to assist through pregnancy and beyond, depending on her wish. This component of the ministry may not be your calling, but Walking With Moms in Need still needs you!

Help is needed in areas such as fund raising, marketing, advertising, and communication. Other areas include a necessities team, who will help secure items that community resources are unable to provide.

Most important, your prayers are needed for the men and women who are choosing Life!

We as volunteers are discovering that the desire to serve those in need is making a positive impact on our own lives.

Touring Birthright

Erin, a volunteer at Birthright, gives a tour of their pregnancy center, located in Elyria. Walking With Moms in Need members were able to deliver 2 boxes of diapers provided by a parishioner. Some items that Birthright provides are diapers, gently used clothes for children and new layettes for newborns.
Birthright is staffed entirely by volunteers. They rely solely on donations to help the average of 7-8 women who come for help on the days they are open. Lisa states that size 5,6, and 7 diapers are their greatest need. Also needed are size 18 month to 4T clothes for boys, and winter P.J.’s. Donations are always appreciated. If you’d like help Birthright in any way, call them at 440-324-9566 or visit https://birthright.org/Elyria.
